Position Opening: Hair Stylist

Salary: Hourly: min. $13 for 80 hours bi-weekly

Education: Completion of high school, Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training.

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Not applicable

Hair Colouring Technique: Streaking/ highlights; Bleach; Dyes/tints

Hair Styling Techniques: Permanents; Iron waving/curling; Extensions; Relaxing; Roller setting; Pin curls; Blow drying; Hair braiding

Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years

Additional Skills: Supervise other hairstylists and other staff; Shampoo customers’ hair, Perform receptionist duties; Maintain and order supplies; Book appointments

 

Work Setting: Barbershop or hairstyling salon/studio

Work Site Environment: Non-smoking

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment; Attention to detail; Combination of sitting, standing, walking

Ability to Supervise: 1 to 2 people

Hairstylist Specific Skills:
Suggest hair style compatible with clients’ physical features or determine style from clients’ instructions and preferences; Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style hair; Analyze hair and scalp condition and provide basic treatment or advice on beauty care treatments for scalp and hair; Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak hair

Barber Specific Skills:
Provide other hair treatment, such as waving, straightening and tinting and also provide scalp conditioning massages; Cut and trim hair according to client’s instructions or preferences

Position Opening: Salon Coordinator

We are seeking a competent, detail-oriented individual for the Coordinator role at our Toronto hair studio.
The ideal candidate will act as the front-line employee for the salon, working to ensure that all salon operations run efficiently and effectively.
As a Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the salon’s clientele experience, always maintaining customer service as a number one priority.
In this role you will be working directly with the Salon Director. 
 

Primary Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Answer and direct all incoming calls and messages
  • Manage the appointment book; schedule and adjust all appointments as necessary
  • Greet all clients and inform respective employees of their arrival
  • Manage the flow of appointments, ensuring all clients are prepped for their stylist as outlined in the schedule
  • Maintain and update all client information
  • Prepare client cards for the following day’s appointments
  • Perform cashier duties
  • Manage all inventory and supplies: this includes product replenishment, monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and keeping the system database up to date and accurate
  • Manage all supplier relationships, keeping accurate records of all accounts
  • On-going retailing duties: being knowledgeable of salon products, reminding customers of their benefits and providing educated recommendations
  • Manage social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
  • Update our website as required (new promotions, product information, etc.)
  • Handle all incoming mail, paper and electronic
  • Assist with bi-weekly and monthly book keeping as required

The Ideal Candidate

  • 2+ years experience in a coordinator/administrative role
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented, with excellent follow up and initiative
  • High level of professionalism and timeliness
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy, attention to detail and timeliness
  • Proficiency using MS Word and Excel
  • Competent using social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Knowledge of Milano Software is a plus
  • Previous experience with website copy is an asset
  • University degree or college diploma is an asset
Working Hours
 
Salon hours are as follows:
 
Monday to Wednesday 10 AM - 6 PM
Thursday to Friday 10 AM - 7 PM
Saturday 9 AM - 4 PM
 
This is a part time role; the applicant must be available to work a minimum of 3 days per week.
